If you cannot attend tryouts, please contact Madeline Kazmann at madeline@magicvolleyballclub.com to get information about possible alternatives to get evaluated.  Some evaluations possibly can be made early during camps or privately. 

Instructions for Tryouts

1. Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your tryout time to check-in, get your tryout bib, stretch, and be ready to begin on time. Make sure to indicate which team you will be trying out for as well as position. You will leave your numbered bib after day 1 and pick it up again day 2 for the second day of tryouts. You can turn it in at the conclusion of the tryouts.
2. The first day of the tryout will consist of skills session, and position evaluations as well as small side competitions. 
3. Day 2 will be assessing Court Awareness, Athleticism, game speed and Volleyball IQ during scrimmages and small sode competitions. 
4. A list will be posted, at the conclusion of tryouts, for those players who have been offered a spot on a team.
5. Team typically have 10-12 Players. We are looking for 2 Setters, 2 DS/Libero, and 6 Hitters.
6. If a player decides to accept a position on the team, please be prepared to leave a deposit of $750 to secure your spot (Deposit amount depends on which team you are chosen for, please refer to payment schedule page). If you choose not to accept your position, your spot will be offered to an alternate. The deposits are NON refundable.
7. There will be a brief meeting after tryouts for players selected and their parents, to review and sign the season contract committing to Magic Volleyball Club for the 2024-2025 season, leave a deposit, and uniform fittings.  We will be able to give you more detailed team and season information at the Parent and 1st team meeting in September.

How do I know what age group I should try out for? How old will you be on July 1, 2025? That is the age group that you tryout for. Age definitions are also listed below.

AGE CLASSIFICATION FOR THE 2024-2025 SEASON

18 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2006 OR Players who were born on or after July 1, 2005 and a high school student in the twelfth (12th) grade or below during some part of the current academic year

17 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2007 OR  Players who were born on or after July 1, 2006 (18 years or younger) who shall neither have completed nor are in a grade higher than the eleventh grade (11th) during the current academic year will be allowed to participate at the USA Junior National Championships on 17 and under teams. 

16 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2008

15 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2009

14 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2010

13 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2011

12 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2012

11 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2013

10 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2014
